Liz Gill is in her fifth year directing the summer running program for Ran Marin. She is the Head Track and Field Coach at Marin College and offers individualized running, nutrition, training, and sport coaching services here. You can also find her at Whole Athlete as a running coach, an instructor with MoveWith teaching Train from the Trails: Trail Running and Strength Training for Runners at Baker Beach in San Francisco on Wednesdays at 7am. Her athletic background includes competing as an NCAA Division 1 cross country and track and field athlete for four years at Columbia University and a year at University of Southern California (fight on!). She has worked as a cross country and track coach at Branson, backpacking guide in Central America, manager of an adapted paddling program, and group leader for high altitude training and service learning trips in Kenya and Peru. She went on to become a national class runner at UCLA as an All-American. A highlight was being part of the UCLA Track and Field National Championship Team in 1977. Previous testimonials from Ran Marin alums:

“Participating in the Ranmarin training program last summer and this winter has been one of the key secrets to achieving a peak level of fitness during the season. Ranmarin helps build a solid base of fitness for all high school runners; no matter their fitness level at the beginning of the program, runners will see rapid improvement in their fitness and will gain the ability to complete longer and faster runs throughout the solid weeks of training that Ranmarin provides. Gaining that kind of background fitness sets runners up perfectly for a successful and fun cross country or track season in which they will likely see their PR’s drop.” –Julia Maxwell, Stanford University XC/Track (formerly at Branson High School)

“Ranmarin gives you such an edge in the season that most of the girls won’t have. It helps you with race strategies, workouts, and injury prevention. It has also helped me make crazy improvements!” -Sophia Noto, University of Portland XC/Track (formerly at Drake High School)

“Ranmarin Winter Training helped me not only build a solid foundation of fitness but also a confidence that I trained as effectively and intelligently as possible for my first-ever track season.” –Anna Harleen, Williams College XC/Track (formerly at Branson High School)

ranMarin to Arch Rock

August 9, 2014

The ranMarin Summer Training group met today for the final run of the summer. The group started at the Point Reyes Visitor Center and ran out to Arch Rock. We missed the runners who could not come today. Everyone has been training well and the hard work is already paying off as the group was able to run comfortably at a good pace. We finished off the morning with a stop at Bovine Bakery, a group favorite!  Good luck to everyone for a successful 2014 Cross Country Season!
