MARIN ATHLETES SHINE AT THE STANFORD INVITATIONAL

The Stanford Invitational is one of the biggest high school meets in the country. Competitive teams come from Southern California and several states.to race against the best runners in the country.

The Drake Boys Team and the Branson Girls Team competed in the Seeded Races. In the Boys race John Lawson.running at Stanford for the first time, ran a gutsy race to finish 4th in 15:19 (4:56). John’s time was the 3rd fastest by a runner from California at the meet. Clayton Hutchins ran strong to finish in 30th place running 16:08. The team placed 25th. In the Girls race Julia Maxwell ran a smart race to finish 4th in 17:25 (5:37). Julia’s time was the fastest time run by a CA athlete at the meet. Her teammate Anna Harleen ran a great race to finish in 12th in 18:36 (6:00). The team placed 14th.

In the Div lll Boys race Redwood’s Fred Huxham ran a strong race to finish 4th in 16:04 (5:11). Freshman Andy Ehrenberg ran 16:56 to place 36th. The team placed 8th. In the Girls race Isabel Moon of Novato ran a great race to finish 18th in 19:37 (6:20). The team finished 16th. Redwood’s Megan Bordes ran 19:50 to place 21st and lead her team to a 3rd place finish. Her teammate Sophie Epstein ran 20:18 (6:32)

In the Div lV Boys race the San Rafael Boys Team placed 9th. The team was led by Joey Morris who ran 16:30 to place 16th. Dominic Lecouturier of Marin Catholic led his team to a 23rd place finish, Dominic ran 17:25 to place 83rd. Chris Stapp led Terra Linda to a 29th place finish, Chris placed 116th in 17:49. In the Girls race Jordan Allen of Marin Catholic was the top finisher, she ran 19:53 to finish 17th. The team placed 20th. Kaitlin McKeogh of Terra Linda ran 21:19 to place 81st. Her team placed 24th.

Marin Academy runners finished 1st and 2nd in the Div 5 Boys race. Trevor Reinhart ran a strong race to finish 1st in 16:17 (5:15) and James Kinney also ran a great race to finish 2nd in 16:26. The team placed 4th. In the Girls race Bevin McCullough led the team with a 9th place finish in 20:42 (6:40). The Girls team also finished 4th.

RanMarin Summer Training Program Athlete Shout-Outs!

Fall Cross Country season is in swing started and there are some serious shout-outs to give to our RanMarin Summer Training Program athletes! Ranmarin summer training participants have started the fall cross country season with personal bests and course records.

Julia Maxwell started the season by winning the small school division at he challenging Ed Sias cross country meet. She came within one second of the course record, and her time puts her #2 on the Ed Sias all-time list. She won her first 2012 MCAL cross country race, setting a new course record on the Branson home course.
                                                                                                 

Sophie Breck helped lead the Branson Girls to their first ever Stinson Beach Relays title. The Branson team led the relays from start to finish. Sophie was top 7 overall at the relays and ran 10:55, dropping 45 seconds from last year’s time. In her first MCAL dual meet, Sophie dropped 54 secs on  previous PR on the course.

Also having a great run at the Stinson Beach Relays was Branson’s Sayles Day, who dropped 1:12 from her time at the relays last year. Riley Coven also had a PR at the relays!

Samantha Huff is also off to a great start this season. In the MCAL dual meet against Marin Catholic, Samantha Huff helped Branson defeat MC 19-42by rounding out top 7 for Branson with a time of 19:29.

Peter Saiga has run well at Ed Sias and had the 5th fastest Boys time at Stinson
Beach  Relays. He is MC’s #1 runner.

Will Lorne  is MC’s #2 runner. Will had 12th fastest Boys time at Stinson Beach Relays.

Last but certainly not least, Sophia Noto from Drake improved her time on the Drake home course by 2 minutes! She placed 3rd in her first 2012 MCAL XC race against  Redwood, Tam and San Marin. Her time placed her 7th on Drake’s all-time list on their home course. Wow!
Congrats to all these athletes on their breakthrough performances so far!!!

Stinson Beach Relays Results

The Stinson Beach Relays were held yesterday on a beautiful day at the beach. Unfortunately several teams were unable to get to the start due to an accident on Highway 1. The Branson Girls’s led from the start to the finish winning the relay for the first time. The Boys Relay was won by Novato. Results to follow.
