Jeremy Leary of Drake High School finished 1st in the Division 4 Race at the NCS Championships on Saturday.  He led the Drake Boys to a Division Team Title.

LoVetri4 (2)

Matt LoVetri of Novato High School finished 9th in the Division 3 race at the NCS Cross Country Championships on Saturday, good enough to send him to the State Meet next week in Fresno.

 

Top Marin Finishers by Division

Division 2 Boys – Redwood takes 1st and 2nd Place.  Andy Ehrenberg won the D2 race and paced the Redwood boys to a 2nd place finish overall, qualifying them for the State Meet.  He was followed by freshman Liam Anderson who took 2nd overall in his first NCS race.  Amazing!  They were followed by Andrew Thomas (16th), Zach Patel (30th), and Ollie Sagatsume (36th).

Division 2 Girls – Redwood finished 2nd in the team scoring qualifying them for the State Meet.  Glennis Murphy finished 2nd overall followed by Lucie Semone (5th), Rachel Bordes (9th), Gillian Wagner (16th), and Annie Fogarty (21st).

Division 3 Boys– Individuals qualifying for the State Meet were Blake Delaney of San Rafael (5th) and Matt LoVetri of Novato (9th).  Congratulations to two of Marin’s hardest workers.

Division 4 Boys – Jeremy Leary finished 1st overall in the D-4 race and paced the Drake Boys to an NCS Title.  He was followed by Wyatt Miceli (7th), Griffin Persily (9th), Will Sileo (14th), and Nicco Pompili (19th).  Earning an individual spot to the State Meet was Zach Bibeault of Terra Linda who finished 8th overall.

Division 4 Girls – Justin Sienna qualified for the State Meet finishing 4th as a team.  They were paced by Hannah Chau (3rd) followed by Donna Roscoe (17th), Melissa Corona (28th), Juliette Nast (38th), and Ryann England (39th).  Earning individual spots to the State Meet were Sara Kennedy of Marin Catholic (10th) and Alex Goldstein of Marin Catholic (13th).

Division 5 Boys – The Marin Academy team won the D5 race and were paced by Henry Fleming (2nd), Connor Montgomery (9th), Jack Williams (17th), Dustin Decker (26th), and Aidan Seeny (30th).  Congratulations on your victory.

Division 5 Girls – Branson finished 3rd overall in the D5 race just edging out Sonoma Academy in a tie-breaker.  Grace Dailey led the team with a 3rd place finish and she was followed by Callie Jones (7th), Lizzie Reeves (14th), Campbell Day (47th), and Anna Weisel (56th).  In addition to the Branson team, Nikki Bissey of San Domenico qualified for the State Meet finishing 17th overall.

NCS Cross Country Championships Saturday, November 21

Marin County cross country teams will be heading to Hayward High School on Saturday, November 21 for the NCS Cross Country Championships, the final qualifier for the State Championships held next week in Fresno.

If you are a spectator, there is an entrance fee of $6 for adults and $4 for children/seniors.

College Update: Former Marin Runners Excel at West Region Meet

2015 NCAA DIVISION I WEST REGION CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

UPDATED: The Stanford Women’s team and the CAL Men’s team received at-large berths and will be going to the NCAA Championships. Julia Maxwell of Stanford, Fred Huxham of Washington and John Lawson of CAL will be racing at the NCAA Division I Cross Country National Championships on Saturday, November 21st at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park 

Unofficially it looks like 3 former Marin runners should be going to the Big Dance. These athletes ran well over a challenging course in the rain and mud. The top two teams in each of nine regionals around the country qualified automatically. Thirteen more advance at-large. The fields for the NCAA Championships will be announced Saturday.

The top female former Marin prep runner was Julia Maxwelll of Stanford. Julia ran a well paced and competitive 6km race to finish in 18th place running 21:06.4. The Stanford Women’s team placed 4th racing without their #1 runner Aisling Cuffe. Stanford should earn an at-large berth to qualify for the NCAA Championship.

In the Mens 8km race former Marin prep runners Fred Huxham of Washington and John Lawson of CAL changed leads several times during the race with Fred finishing in 22nd place running 31:37.7. The Washington Men’s team placed 1st and earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship. John finished in 25th running 31:44.7. The CAL Men’s team placed 6th and should earn an at-large berth to qualify for the NCAA Championship.

Megan Bordes of CAL ran 21:28 to place 42nd in the Women’s West Region Championship race.

College Update 2015 Cross Country Regional Championships


 

The NCAA Dl Cross Country Regional Championships will be held on Friday Nov. 13. The 9 NCAA Regional races will determine the 31 men’s and 31 women’s teams that will head to Louisville’s E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park on November 21 for the 2015 NCAA Division l Cross Country Championships.

2015 MCAL XC Championships

MCAL XC Championships   Wed. Nov. 11    Indian Valley College

The Drake Boys cross country team won the MCAL Championships for the first time beating Redwood 40-43. The race was won by Andy Ehrenberg of Redwood in 15:54. Andy was closely followed by Jeremy of Drake who placed second in 15:56. In 3rd place was Blake Delaney of San Rafael running 16:20.

The Redwood Girls cross country team won the meet with Tam finishing in second place. The Girls race was won by Glennis Murphy of Redwood in 18:35. Grace Dailey of Branson finished in second place followed by Gillian Wagner of Redwood in 3rd place.

MCAL XC Finals-Wed, Nov. 11

The MCAL Cross Country finals will be held next Wednesday, November 11 at Indian Valley College in Novato.  There are 4 races in total.  The B races are similar to a JV race and the A races are considered the Varsity races.

Men’s 8km Race

John Lawson (Drake) of CAL ran a strong race to finish in 21st place in 23:48 as CAL’s 2nd team scorer. The CAL team placed 7th. John was closely followed by Fred Huxham (Redwood) of Washington. Fred finished in 22nd place in 23:49. The Washington team placed 4th. The race was won by Edward Cheserek of Oregon in 23:06. In the team competition Colorado won the meet with Stanford in 2nd place.

Women’s 6km Race

Julia Maxwell (Branson) racing for Stanford ran a well paced race to finish as Stanford’s 3rd runner. Julia was the 5th scorer in the 3 previous races. Julia finished in 19th place in 20:30 to help the Stanford team place 3rd. CAL’s Megan Bordes (Redwood) placed 42nd in 21:00 as part of CAL’s 7th place finish. The race was won by Aisling Cuffe of Stanford in 19:53. In the team competition Colorado won the meet with Oregon placing 2nd.
