Anderson and Glasser are State Champs. Two Track Titles and the meet is not over.

Two Marin athletes have already won State Meet titles at tonight’s California CIF State Track and Field Championships in Clovis, and the meet continues.  Junior Liam Anderson, Redwood, wins the 1,600 in a state-leading time of 4:09.31. Anderson entered the race ranked fourth in the State.  Anderson will get back on the track at 9:25 pm tonight when he attempts a double win in the 3,200.

Senior Max Glasser, Marin Catholic, ran from behind for the win in the 400 meters.  Glasser also recorded a state leading time, finishing in 46.97, and dipping under the 47.00 barrier for the first time.

Marin Athletes take four titles at MOC

Max Glasser, MC, Gillian Wagner, and Liam Anderson took titles at the NCS Meet of Champions on Saturday in Berkeley.  Anderson was a double winner in the 1,600 and 3,200 in 4:11.43 and 9:06.24.  Gillian won the 3,200 easily in 10:25.95.  Max Glasser won the 400 in 47.41.  Glasser also placed second in the 200 but will not compete in that event at the CIF State Meet next week.

Anderson is currently ranked #6 in the State in the 1,600 behind Xavier Court of Mira Costa. Anderson is ranked first in the State and 6th in the nation in the 3,200, with a time of 8:52.74.

Wagner is currently ranked 4th in the State and 11th in the nation in the 3,200, with a time of 10:14. 11.

Glasser enters this week’s State Meet with the third best time in the State, 47.31.

MCAL athletes take running events at NCS Redwood Empire Championship meet

MCAL athletes dominated the running events and nabbed a few field event wins at the Redwood Empire Championship meet yesterday in Santa Rosa.  Two MCAL athletes set new Redwood Empire meet records in the process.  Max Glasser, MC, set a new meet record in the 200m of 21.44, breaking the record set in 1995 by Corey Nelson or Rancho Cotate, 21.51. Max also won the 400 in 48.86.

Redwood’s Gillian Wagner set a new meet record in the 1,600 of 4:46.22, breaking Julia Stamps (Santa Rosa) record of 4:49.55 set in 1997.  Gillian also won the 3,200 in 10:55.77. Redwood’s Liam Anderson was also a double winner, taking the 1,600m, 4:21.16 and 3,200, 9:28.34.

Other Marin winners include: Nicco Pompili, 800m, 1:56.96, Landon Mispagel, Tam, 110 HH, 15.11; Jamar Sekona, Shot Put, 52’04 1/4″; Samantha Wallenstrom, MC, 800m, 2:16.31, Nava Kohn, Redwood, 100m, 12.64;  Lauren Ross, Tam, Pole Vault, 12’0″.

Gillian Wagner set a new meet record in the girls 1,600 meter run, with a blazing solo 4:49.76, breaking Julia Maxwell of Branson’s record of 4:54.48 set in 2014.

Lauren Ross of Tam and Brooke Simon of Drake both broke the meet pole vault record of 11’00” set in 2015 by Isabella DeBruin of Justin Siena.  Ross won the event in 11’6″.
